Operations Management OMT – (M.Sc.)

Career Profile

The OMT graduates are schooled to shape the management, planning and control mechanisms of an enterprise in a results-oriented way. Further, they are well versed in the optimal use of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Responding to a constantly changing and complex commercial environment, our graduates are equipped to take on strategic, planning, formative and networked tasks within any enterprise, as well as manage the interface with suppliers and customers. As management personnel, they will be able to devise goals and guidelines with their team, and implement measures to ensure goals are reached and results evaluated. OMT competency includes taking responsibility for costs and results and contributing to leadership strategies.

Graduates take on technical and executive as well as consulting functions among other things in the following areas:

* Management
* Production
* Production planning and control
* Strategic procurement management
* Outsourcing/Insourcing
* Construction and expansion of production locations
* Development and implementation of new systems and instruments for the organization, planning and control of production

OMT graduates are well placed to exploit career opportunities in production enterprises or production-related service companies in all industries and all sizes of business. The OMT Master’s degree ensures our graduates are best qualified for any next career step.

Focus

The objective of the programme is to imbue students with comprehensive management knowledge and expertise in planning and control of production processes by means of ERP systems, with a specific focus on Systems, Applications and Products (SAP). The focus is thereby on the following areas:

* Management: Management, strategy, finance and controlling, process management
* Production: Enterprise resource planning (ERP), production management, procurement management, factory planning, simulation
* Social skills: Leadership and communication training, business English
* Practical orientation: Continuous transfer of the acquired knowledge in the context of specific practical projects in enterprises, case studies and an application orientated thesis
