Syllabus
1st semester: Object - Space - City; consultancy; public design; urban environment; ecology/power engineering; materials theory; supporting structure; building materials theory
2nd semester: Building construction design with specialisation in the redevelopment of existing buildings; consultancy; free space and landscape and an optional subject from: commercial design/virtual space; structural design building constructions; structural design redevelopment of existing buildings; supporting structure; history of urban development and an optional subject from: psychology of space/special topics in architecture
3rd semester: Building construction design with selected specialisation; consultancy; temporary buildings and an optional subject from: staged rooms/corporate design/ typography/spacing; design theory and an optional subject from: presentation forms/PR work; two optional subjects from: architecture theory/positions of monument preservation/history of art/sociology of building
4th semester: Master thesis; consultancy; two optional subjects from: copyright, design and trade mark rights/starting up and managing a company; building management
Requirements to start a Master programme in architecture are:
1. a successfully completed Bachelor degree or diploma in architecture or a comparable accredited national or foreign study course which was attained with an overall grade of "good" or better,
2. proof of relevant work in a planning office (architecture, interior architecture, urban planning or the like) of at least three months (60 workdays) in duration. If the professional phase is completed in separate periods, work sections of less than four weeks (20 workdays) will generally not be recognised. In cases of doubt the examination committee will decide on this,
3. determining a special course-related aptitude. Details on the assessment process shall be regulated by the rules on assessing the applicant´s artistic and creative aptitude for the Master study course in architecture at the Department of Architecture at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences.
