The qualification profile attained through the Master study course enables graduates to pursue a management career at middle and higher level in companies and organisations in the field of communications and multimedia as well as providing them with a comprehensively qualified professional perspective in the market management of various industrial sectors. The requirements of training university graduates in selected industrial sectors are listed in the following:
Trading companies: North Rhine-Westphalia is the headquarters of the most important companies from the retail sector and these are decisively characterised by new information and communication technologies. Key words, such as e-commerce, e-CRM, category management/ ECR and e-communication make up central challenges in this sector in order to successfully process the customer segments. The Master study course is able to qualify graduates for such problem definitions at middle and higher management levels.
Consumer goods sector: Companies from the consumer goods sector traditionally have a high demand for qualified communication experts and have built up a good long-term relationship with the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. The region is characterised by a multitude of large, international concerns in which graduates from the course have particularly good opportunities. In this consumer goods sector as well the importance of new media is increasing in the framework of international, integrated corporate and market communication, e-commerce and multi-channel-management and with this the demand for well trained university graduates from the region of North Rhine-Westphalia is increasing as well.
Service companies: Market management in service companies is decisively characterised by the application of new technologies. New topic areas, in particular areas such as e-communication, CRM and multi-channel-management, in the past led to a structural change in market processing and the underlying processes. Not least new contemporary forms of services arise through digitisation and networking, such as auction platforms, affiliated programmes, search machines and many more. Here in particular having a professional approach to the topics from the course of studies will be of far-reaching significance in the future and the graduates will find a great demand and acceptance.
Media: North Rhine-Westphalia as a location in the media sector has a great and continuously growing importance in front of Hamburg and Munich. The largest TV and radio stations in Germany are based here; likewise some of the largest German newspaper publishers. The traditional, large media companies in particular are faced with an increasing significance in the network of different forms of media in the form of a cross-media-management. Hardly any company can survive without using "multimedia thinking" and furthermore must commit to an efficient media brand management. Düsseldorf must ensure its communications and media competence here in the competitive environment and train excellently qualified junior managers in order to be able to maintain and further develop the competitiveness of this location.
Advertising and media agencies: Düsseldorf is the absolute top runner in the communication sector. 15 of the top 100 advertising agencies, including the largest three, have their headquarters in Düsseldorf. Germany´s largest media agencies also have their headquarters in Düsseldorf. In these companies in particular there is a need for a network of communicative questions with the new media, which can be specifically covered by a comprehensive and practice-oriented course at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences.
In-depth and practical knowledge in the areas of communication and multimedia combined with a thorough analysis of general market management issues provide the basis for a high-level career in the media business. Courses in E-Market Management, Media Design, Branding, Business Communication and Multi-Channel Management offer opportunities for a further specialisation. This programme, which is unique in Germany, is for graduates who have previous experience in the media business sector or a degree in Business Studies or Multimedia Studies.
