The FOM Graduate School is responsible for the postgraduate program of the FOM University of Applied Sciences. It offers study courses for students who have already earned an undergraduate or bachelor’s degree. The aim of the master program is to provide graduates who have a fulltime position with international management know-how and to prepare them for leadership positions. As the teaching staff consists of executives as well as of qualified scientists, the FOM graduate school guarantees a curriculum that meets both scientific standards and is at the same time based on hands-on experience. Most of the professors and teachers with professional business background represent small-, medium- and also large-sized German businesses and offer international students the possibility to get to know the world’s leading export-nation from inside.
Master Program for Generalists and Experts
The FOM Graduate School’s programs qualify for either comprehensive management know-how, giving special attention to questions of internationalization, or focus on specialized fields of today’s business-world. Belonging to the first group, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) course introduces students to the full array of business-areas and –activities such as marketing, human resource management, business law, financial management etc. Also, it prepares them for leadership or consulting positions in an increasingly globalised economy by giving both a global view and local understanding of doing business in the 21st century. Derived from this understanding, the MBA program is a mainly English-speaking program, interspersed with lessons given in German as well.
Apart from the MBA the FOM Graduate School offers the degrees Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Laws (LL.M.). In these highly specialized in-depth study programs students acquire expertise in fields such as Accounting & Finance, Human Resources, Marketing & Sales, Marketing & Communications, IT Management and Business Law. Moreover, they also improve their leadership skills and receive additional know-how from management-relevant or neighbouring fields such as IT, Law and Economics.
All three Master programs are granted accreditation by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA).

Thanks to 16 study centers in Germany and one in Luxembourg the FOM Graduate School offers maximal flexibility to its’ students: If, for instance, it becomes necessary due to a change of job, students can easily change their place of study whenever a semester is completed successfully. Another interesting advantage holds the huge network of the university: In order to constantly advance research and its quality of teaching the FOM cooperates with well-known universities worldwide. Agreements have, for instance, been established with the Avans Hogeschool in the Netherlands, the Pfeiffer University in the USA and the Spanish Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia.
In addition the FOM Graduate School has strong ties to enterprises all over Germany. Companies such as Siemens and Bertelsmann have integrated FOM courses into their high potential development programs and support the university with their expertise. A far-reaching alumni network and nationwide hundreds of highly motivated graduates each year round off the FOM Graduate School’s networking activities.
The FOM Graduate School offers the possibility of studying at a university while holding a full-time job. Students are able to continue and strengthen their company career and at the same time acquire a master’s degree. Lectures and seminars are held in the evenings or at weekends so that there is no overlap with working hours. Another direct advantage of the on-campus courses is that students are intensively supervised by professors and lecturers and can share their job- and learning-experiences with their fellow students face-to-face. As more than 90 percent of the FOM Graduate School students pass their final exams this concept proves to be a very successful one.
All academic degrees awarded by the FOM are officially recognised and accredited by the government: In 2006 the Bachelor and MBA programme have been successfully accredited by the FIBAA, one of the leading academic accreditation institutions. Furthermore the "Wissenschaftsrat", the Federal Council of Science, has accredited the FOM as a university of applied sciences in 2004.
