Located in the very heart of the Netherlands, HUUniversity of Applied Sciences Utrecht is an excellent place to study for everyone with ambition and the desire to make the most of their study.

The HU offers well over 80 study programmes. Most lead to a Bachelor’s degree. There are five bachelor programmes fully taught in English:
All these programmes last four year, have an international setting and offer you the opportunity to study in another country with one of our partner universities; for instance, in Canada, Switzerland, Korea, Kenya and many other countries. At IBMS, at least one work placement needs to be done abroad.
You will be placed in a mixed class with both Dutch and International students.

HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (HU) has invested in modern facilities like IT provisions, media libraries, audiovisual equipment and plenty of photocopiers. Wireless Internet access is available thanks to the many wi-fi points.
Most applications are accessible via the internet, so you can read your e-mail, enrol for courses or check your latest marks from home or on one of the many work stations at school.
Digital notice board
All course-related information, including lecture timetables, examination dates, study results and the study guide, is available via the intranet of Hogeschool Utrecht. Every student is allocated his or her own e-mail address on our domain.
Free use of the media libraries
You can use the internet to search the catalogue of the media libraries of HU University of Applied Sciences and the university’s main library.
Study plan
To a certain extent, you will determine the content of your own study programme. You will be assigned an advisor who will help you to devise a ‘study plan’, and with whom you will discuss progress on a regular basis. Some departments also appoint senior students to answer questions.
Brush up your Dutch
Is Dutch your second language? If so, courses are available to help you improve both your linguistic and your studying skills.
Going abroad
Perhaps you would like to complete part of your course in another country, or undertake a work experience placement overseas. You will not be the first! Many of our students have travelled abroad, visiting everywhere from Texas to China. Our International Office can inform you about the various options.
General introduction week
All first-year students arriving at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht and Utrecht University are invited to take part in the ‘general introduction week’, held annually in August. This is your opportunity to get to know the city, the student societies and your fellow students.
The International Office of the HU organises an introduction for international students just before the start of your studies. All students will receive a welcome letter before arriving and additional information about the introduction programme. For exchange students an introduction is held every semester. Good restaurants
Warm meals, rolls, drinks and other snacks are available at the canteen. If the canteen is closed you can get coffee, soft drinks and snacks at the vending machines that are in the building.
The city of Utrecht is centrally located in the country and is one of the four largest cities in the Netherlands. The city is a typical student city; over 75.000 students live here. That is why the city is vibrant with many cafes, clubs, restaurants, cinemas and cultural festivals. Utrecht has a well-preserved historical centre and is famous for its Dom church and its romantic canals.
Responsibility for accreditation lies with the Netherlands-Flemish Accreditation Organization (NVAO). All degree programmes offered by research universities and universities of applied sciences will be evaluated according to established criteria, and programmes that meet those criteria will be accredited.
